28-014: Gibbon biodiversity conservation through coffee-based agroforestry (360G-cabinetoffice-G2-GA-202202798915-22-23)

The biologically diverse Mann Reserved Forest is globally important, but under threat from unsustainableagriculture. With a private-sector partner, FFI will enable farmers from 11 villages to develop gibbon-friendlyagroforestry coffee as an alternative to shifting agriculture, in exchange for gibbon protection measures. Thiswill reduce dependency on forest clearance while strengthening livelihoods, and support the managementobjectives of the soon-to-be-gazetted 12,400ha Mann Wildlife Sanctuary. This approach has great potential forreplication within the Arakan mountains
