GRCF2021: North Cornwall B-Lines creating pathways for pollinators (360G-cabinetoffice-G2-GA-202211828513-22-23)

Our project will address the urgent need to restore threatened bee species in North Cornwall. Our focus is the Large Scabious bee and Brown-banded carder bee, however, project activities will increase the abundance and diversity of pollinators and other wildlife. Through partnerships with numerous landowners, we are ready to restore wildflower-rich habitats on three sections of the North Cornwall coastline. The project, which will create/retain two jobs, will establish habitat corridors and steppingstones for insects to expand their populations and become more resilient. We will help fulfil EU Pollinator Initiative priorities and the National Pollinator Strategy by: -Restoring lowland meadows (NERC Act Section 41 priority habitat) for pollinator insectsReducing habitat fragmentation across landscapes - improving habitat connectivity and species dispersalSupporting the recovery of Large scabious bee, the Buff-banded mining bee and the Brown banded carder bee (S41 priority species).Delivering nature-based solutions including pollination and carbon sequestration (helping deliver local climate change strategies)Reconnecting people with nature through events and education sessionsImproving the health and wellbeing of local people by providing access to natureEnhancing nature-rich active travel corridors along the Camel Trail and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
