This measure will be used in England to raise the level of skills and knowledge in the farming and forestry sectors and develop small rural enterprises in the wider rural economy. This investment will address the weaknesses and opportunities identified in the SWOT on the lack of access to a skilled workforce in the agriculture sector and within small rural businesses as well as the limited application of research knowledge. It will contribute to Europe 2020 and the United Kingdoms strategies for growth by improving business competitiveness. The skills offer will also contribute to our environmental and resource efficiency priorities and complement our agri-environment priorities
