This scheme encourages the grouping of growers in the Fruit and Vegetables sector into Producer Organisations (POs). POs allow growers to share resources and equipment, focus on more efficient organisation of production and improved product presentation and marketing. The scheme supports approved operational programmes implemented by recognised Fruit and Vegetable producer organisations through a contribution to their operational funds. Each PO must set up an operational fund to finance their operational programme - part-financed by member contributions / the PO itself and partly through EU financial assistance under the EU Fruit and Vegetable Regime. A PO must be made up of at least 5 individual grower members who market their crops through the PO and be run democratically as a single enterprise. RPA administers scheme across the UK.
