ALB-Historic England-Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment: Inner Humber Estuary (Grimsby/Sunk Island to Trent Falls) (360G-cabinetoffice-G2-GA-2023061068996-22-23)

This project is being undertaken by Cornwall Archaeological Unit. It forms component one of the Inner Humber Estuary England Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment (RCZAS). The project also forms part of Historic Englands National Mapping Programme (NMP) and will comprise an analytical aerial survey of coastal and riverine strip along the inner Humber Estuary covering 256 square kilometres. The NMP project area extends from Sunk Island/Grimsby in the east to Trent Falls in the west. It falls within the Unitary Authorities of North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, East Riding of Yorkshire and City of Hull. Parts of the project area were previously mapped by the Yorkshire Wolds, Vale of York, and Lincolnshire NMP projects but these areas will be re-mapped to current NMP standards as part of the Inner Humber Estuary RCZAS NMP. The survey will take the form of a review of all easily accessible aerial photographs, digital aerial imagery and lidar data for the project area. Digital mapping and database recording of all archaeological features visible on the imagery will be undertaken to current standards of Historic Englands NMP Programme. NMP mapping and recording will be produced entirely in digital format. All photographic images will be rectified using AERIAL 5.36 and the rectified images digitally transcribed in AutoCAD, using a nationally agreed layer structure and line and colour conventions. Monument recording for the project will be undertaken into an HBSMR database and all records created will be integrated into the various HER databases at the end of the project. The project will be carried out between March 2018 and November 2019.
