Domestic Abuse Protection Order Pilot Positive Requirements Referral and Assessment Service (360G-cabinetoffice-G2-GA-2025111637230-24-25)

The new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) pilot was launched on 27 November 2024. DAPOs are used to protect victims from all forms of domestic abuse, including non-physical abuse and controlling or coercive behaviour. DAPOs are protective orders and can be used to impose restrictions and conditions on a perpetrator of domestic abuse. For example, they can impose positive requirements which enables police and courts to refer domestic abuse perpetrators onto perpetrator behaviour change, substance misuse and mental health interventions. The aim of this funding is to continue the triaging function for the pilot to help police and courts make more accurate programme referrals and minimise the risk of placing someone on an unsuitable programme (which could increase risk to victims).
