Jewish Community Protective Security Grant 2018/2019 (360G-cabinetoffice-GA-133937)

Funding Organization
£13,400,000

The funding was proposed following the attacks against individuals and Jewish community sites in recent years, including in Paris, Copenhagen Toulouse and Brussels, and the need to consider how the safety and security of the Jewish community in the UK can be enhanced. It also recognises the recent very high levels of anti-Semitic incidents, and the need to take co-ordinated action to combat anti-Semitism and hate crime. It supports the Home Office priorities to protect our citizens from terrorism, and to reduce crime. The OSCT Protective Security Team leads on policy to ensure the safety and security of Royalty and VIPs, critical national infrastructure, and the safety of the public including at transport sites and crowded places. This work also considers terrorism threats to communities and mitigating activity to combat these. The Unit works closely with the Counter Extremism Directorate who lead on hate crime and provide Home Office representation on cross Government work to combat hate crime including anti-Semitism.This grant stream will provide for a range of measures to improve protective security and preparedness at community sites, with the ultimate aim to deter, detect and mitigate a terrorist attack, with the consequential benefits of reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and anti-Semitic incidents.Measures to achieve these aims include, for example, the cost of providing private security guards or other security measures such as fences, gates, access control systems and monitored CCTV systems.
