Recipient Org: Description The Breaking the Barriers (BTB) programme implemented by Christian Aid and partners with financial support from the EU has supported women in remote off-grid communities in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Malawi and Honduras to create and run their Women’s Led Sustainable Energy Enterprises (WLSEEs), through which they receive training in sustainable energy products and technologies, business skills and have access to financial support in the form of both grants & loans. BTB has increased rural women’s jobs and income in the sustainable energy sector, improved working and living conditions, promoted gender equality and challenged social norms with women taking up jobs not traditionally held by women.
