Recipient Org: Description The aim of our organisation is to move the homeless from dependence to independence. We achieve this by offering accommodation, support and education in both residential and outreach properties. The organisation currently offers support to 200 homeless and socially excluded people every week. Those that use the service have various support issues including drug and alcohol issues, family breakdown, mental health issues, criminal behaviour etc and we have contact with this client group every day. We are therefore in a good position to have a direct impact on the lives of the people we work with. We already have experience of identifying empty properties in suitable areas and converting them into accommodation. These properties are currently housing young people who would be otherwise living in unsuitable and unsafe areas or would be street homeless.
