Latch is planning to purchase and refurbish long term empty properties to provide supported housing for four people under 25 who are homeless or in housing need. Latch provides a holistic service to young people, through the provision of housing, support and volunteering services. This addresses their housing needs; the reasons why they have become homeless and other issues such as independent living skills, money management, alcohol or substance abuse; and improves their employment and training prospects through volunteering. The homes will be refurbished to high quality and energy efficiency standards, making them warm and affordable to heat. The properties will be let fully furnished and equipped. Each tenant will have a dedicated support worker who will work them to enable the tenant to have a successful tenancy and when ready to move-on from Latch to live independently. The properties will be maintained by Latch's in-house property management service.
