Recipient Org: Description The Oxfordshire Book Award is an award voted for entirely by children, who read and nominate their favourite books. The award has three categories: Best Book (Secondary School Category), Best Book (Primary School Category), Best Picture Book (Primary School Category). Children throughout Oxfordshire can take part either at participating primary and secondary schools, or through any public library. The aim of OBA is to encourage the participation of children and young people, both in participating schools and in the Oxfordshire community, in reading more widely,to promote books that will inspire and develop readers for life and to encourage lively debate, discussion and critical appreciation of books. The committee help schools by providing copies of the nominated books, organise and fund a fun awards event attended by guest speakers and help some schools with transportation costs to this events.
