Embedding youth-led advocacy in legal challenges to the UK asylum system (360G-phf-43278)

£150,000
Recipient Organisation

Asylum Aid is a national organisation providing free legal advice and representation to asylum seekers, and lobbying and campaigning for an asylum system based on human rights principles. Asylum Aid provides trauma-informed legal representation to unaccompanied children and young people in the UK asylum system, many of whom are survivors of trafficking, torture, and war. This grant supports Asylum Aid to deepen youth engagement across its services and strengthen its capacity for strategic litigation. A new Survivor Activism and Engagement Coordinator will develop structured, trauma-sensitive pathways for young people to shape legal challenges, influence policy reform, and increase access to justice. Funding will also expand Asylum Aid’s casework capacity, ensuring more young people can access expert representation while amplifying their voices in the fight for a fairer, more accountable asylum system.
