The funding will be used to replace the Hargreaves Narrowboat Trust's narrowboat which is 42 years old and no longer fit for purpose. The new boat will be designed to be accessible to the group's disabled passengers and those with access needs who currently can't access the boat and its facilities. The new boat will be designed to have zero carbon emissions as it will be electric rather than diesel powered. They have strong connections with local charities, care homes and other community groups. The group provides days out for almost 3000 disabled and elderly passengers yearly with the aim of bringing people together to fight social isolation and loneliness.
