Can low abundance plasma proteins help us predict preterm labour? (360G-tnlcomfund-0030108218)

£158,541

Preterm labour is difficult to predict and treatment is often given too late. Several proteins have already been identified that increase when labour begins. This research will assess whether these proteins can be used to predict preterm labour. At the end of the project up to six proteins which could be used in a diagnostic test for preterm labour will be taken forward to a clinical trial. Obstetricians will then have advanced warning of preterm labour and may be able to treat women more effectively.
