In Afghanistan 53 per cent of households live below the poverty line, and only 55 per cent of children are enrolled in school. In the six selected project areas up to 37 per cent of boys and 94 per cent of girls are not enrolled in primary school. The aim of the project is to increase access to basic quality education for marginalised girls and boys in remote rural communities.
