The project in Zambia will help slum dwellers to gain legal title to land and develop sustainable communities. It will help groups and individuals to understand the legal processes involved, to negotiate with local authorities for new land and to plan cost-effective housing developments. In order to do this it is necessary to strengthen existing savings and credit schemes to foster increased livelihood activities, and also provide credit to groups for initial land development.
