The funding will be used provide meaningful activities and engagement with children and young people in Corby specifically the Kingswood estate an area of high deprivation. This is an increase from their original proposal which was an ask of £198564 over 2 years. The additional amount will aid sustainability enabling all programmes to run for the longer period and the new Youth Engagement Coordinator role to firmly embed into the community. LCC is a registered charity and a private company limited by guarantee without share capital. They incorporated in December 2003 and took on the running of the Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre (KNC) at this time. Linwood also run a second community centre in Corby Old Village. The Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre is situated in the heart of The Kingswood estate in Corby an extremely underprivileged estate with renowned crime violence and anti-social behaviour problems. Various services are delivered from KNC including youth clubs sports clubs training a community café and more recently a food bank. North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) own the centre and surrounding land and lease the space to LCC. ProposalThis project will focus on providing children and young people from the Kingswood estate with a range of opportunities to engage in meaningful/constructive activities which will help to improve health and wellbeing community cohesion training and employability skills confidence and self-esteem. The project is three-fold and involves the following:1. Youth Engagement: To develop a Kingswood Steering Group for 14-24 year olds. Through this group a Youth Action Plan will be created with activities designed by YP. The plan will consider the types of facilities and sports provision required in the area and the YP will work closely with a newly appointed Youth Engagement Officer to co create and develop the plan. 2. Youth Delivery: The Youth Action Plan will include a range of activities that the er Corby Team will deliver awareness campaigns at local schools around anti-bullying hate crime promoting respect and celebrating diversity. 3. Sports Facility Provision: Redevelopment of a skateboard park fitness equipment (Callisthenics) and lights at the MUGA have been prioritised by the community.
