This funding will support AGE UK Wakefield to provide support and befriending services for older people across Wakefield district. The Time for Tea project will run sessions at various locations across Wakefield aimed at older people and providing activity sessions aimed at reducing loneliness advice signposting and referrals to other services to improve wellbeing and provide crisis intervention work at the earliest opportunity. The project aims to reduce isolation and loneliness in older residents in Wakefield district by creating spaces for meeting and befriending in supermarkets shopping centres and local community venues that attract older residents’ day to day.
