This group will use the funding to provide a perinatal befriending service to mothers in Edinburgh and the Lothians experiencing perinatal mental health difficulties. Volunteer befrienders are matched with mothers and support them from the baby's birth and during the 1st year. Support is often offered where babies are premature and need special care in neonatal intensive care which is a particularly stressful time for mothers and families.
