The funding will support Bollington Community Association CIO with the renovation costs to open up space on the first floor of the Bridgend Centre. This capital project will enable capacity to significantly increase services for community members in Bollington and surrounding areas improving social isolation connections physical and mental health. The organisation works with five trustees 11 staff and 103 volunteers with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for residents (18+ year olds) and community members of Bollington by fostering a caring inclusive and supportive environment. They offer a range of services to reduce the need for more complex support from statutory services when people hit crisis point such as:• Health and educational activities - creative writing art and crafts Mah Jong Bridgend choir Spanish lessons Reading Circle social groups and guided walks.• Offer support/information on issues such as addiction bereavement divorce eviction homelessness poverty and support with the diagnosis of a physical or mental health condition. Also provide information on subjects including benefits social housing carers support medical services and signpost people to specialist services when required.• ‘Bridgend Buddies’ - Befriending scheme.• Talk & Games project - for older people and those with dementia and memory issues (they also go out on regular day trips).• Drop off and collection point for local food bank ‘Silk-Life’.• ‘Shuttle to the Shops’ service - partnership with Rainow Community Bus (isolation and lack of transport was identified).
