Recipient Org: Description Clean Break works with women affected by the criminal justice system, a group on the margins of society who often have multiple and complex needs. Poverty plays a powerful role; women prisoners find it harder than men to enter employment on release, and issues which disproportionately affect women (e.g. lone parenthood, wage inequality, financial abuse) make them more likely to struggle with poverty. Our theatre education programme provides is a unique and influential model for engaging and supporting women, and giving them the confidence, self esteem, qualifications and opportunities to break the cycle of crime.
