Recipient Org: Description | Uprising East Lothian is a community-led youth project in North Berwick that is building a multi-purpose activity hub (the Space) for children and young people. It has raised £107,500 from a variety of donors to fund the refit of a disused factory warehouse, and has secured some revenue funds for running costs. The new Space is about to open fully and will ultimately benefit 150 children and young people per month. There is no other provision of this nature in the area. The group has applied to register as a charity (application pending). En route to creating the new Space, the group has delivered successful short-term youth projects in different locations, including a series of music workshops and a skate park project. The group is known to the Foundation and has a positive reputation with other funders. |
