Recipient Org: Description | Up2U aims to reduce the impact of substance misuse on young people and to provide up to date information on drugs, alcohol and sexual health targeting young people between 11 and 18yrs in the Tweeddale area of the Scottish Borders. Recruiting from S3 at Peebles High School, UP2U trains all successful pupils who apply, to deliver their own unique drugs and alcohol awareness programme to all Primary 7 pupils across the 9 primary schools in Tweeddale. Up2U offers the young members training opportunities throughout the year prior to them working as peer educators in the primary schools. The training comprises of one team building training day, five sessions covering associated drugs and alcohol misuse subjects to further enhance their knowledge and a full day of peer education training. Peer educators stay with Up2U until S6 then train to become peer counsellors, supporting S1 pupils during transition to High School. |
