| Recipient Org: Description | We are best way community development (BWCD) with charity registration number SC052379, based in the North Lanarkshire in Motherwell. Because of the issue we faced as refugees we sat together with our African community members and other African ethnic minority groups and came up with strategies to fight discrimination, racism, drug and alcohol misuse and culture misunderstanding by creating a platform for integration in order to break down barriers between the wide community and the ethnic minority populations in the North Lanarkshire. Most of our service users are Africans, Syrians, Ukrainians, as well as residents around North Lanarkshire. Our activities involves young people, men, women and families together. Our main activities, we organise music and dance for young people, different workshops as required, community events, TV show programs for broadcast on the internet (YouTube), basic IT skills. BWCD has been running drug and alcohol support for families and young people affected by drug misuse, we are providing training to families with people affected with drugs and alcohol by in conjunction with Scottish families affected by alcohol and drugs (SFAD), We were funded to offer more specialised support to families and ensure that they receive the help they need to overcome their challenges. Due to the cost of living crises, at Jerviston community center Tuesday and Friday we provides food bank to the families, We are also providing mobile food bank which runs throughout the week to residents of Motherwell, Bellshire and Wishow areas. Also every Sunday at Jerviston community centre we support people by providing proper free cooked hot meal to people affected by drugs and alcohol. In conjunction with home heating advice Scotland (HHAC) we are helping people living in poverty and with lower income to sort the clearers of their bills and get more support. Our project is supported by 14 volunteers who would not otherwise participate in active citizenship building their skills and confidence. BWCD main priority is to tackle family conflict through conflict resolution and community engagement. |
