Recipient Org: Description Abundant Borders works within our communities to create a network of food gardens across the Scottish Borders. These gardens act as a training base for people to learn how to grow their own food in a sustainable way, using principles of permaculture ? care for people, care for the planet and care for the future. We then teach how to turn that food into healthy, inexpensive meals. We actively manage six community gardens across the region and are supporting the development of over a dozen more community food growing projects. In the cooking courses, people learn to cook with produce they have grown, or which could be grown locally to understand issues of healthy eating and the importance of using local food, seasonal produce as an important part of tackling climate change. We also run social lunches/community cafes across the region to tackle social isolation, help people to connect with their neighbours, build friendships and promote individual and community resilience.
