Recipient Org: Description Stirling Carers Centre is the only dedicated charity providing support services to all unpaid Carers throughout both urban and rural Stirling. We have been operating successfully for over 30 years. We have grown and developed from supporting around 40 unpaid adult carers to now support on average 1900 unpaid adult carers, 40 young adults and 190 child and young carers each year. Around 20% of our carers live in the top 5%-20% of Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) areas and almost half live in isolated rural villages where poverty is often hidden. We aim primarily to make a positive difference to carers lives by helping them to feel more valued, to be less isolated, to attain improved health and well-being, and to be supported to care for their loved one/s for as long as they are willing and able. Our vision is that unpaid carers are empowered and supported in their caring roles, they should know their rights and achieve equality within their wider community. Carers? voices shape our services and feed into local and national decision making. We provide a wide range of holistic support and services. Our 1:1 person-centred support is tailored and targeted to meet the needs of each individual carer. Based on consultation with carers we offer activity and event breaks which are provided free to make them accessible to all. They provide invaluable opportunities to meet with other carers and make lasting and meaningful friendships. Events also provide vital respite that yield various outcomes, such as decreased isolation & loneliness, better relationships with family and friends, improved mental/physical health and wellbeing and better connected to their wider community. We are valued members of the local Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health & Social Care Partnership and active members within the Third Sector. We work in partnership with and are highly respected among professionals such as social workers, educational staff, health workers and GP?s. Extracts for evaluations 2023-24 88% of young carers felt more able to cope in their caring role. 76% of adult carers felt completing a support plan helped them identify support options. ?there have been times when the only reason I have to leave the house is to attend functions with the carers? rural adult carer. ?I got to meet new friends and tried new things. Please can I go back next year? young carer following outdoor residential break.
