Recipient Org: Description Founded in 1980, The Eric Liddell Community's (ELC) vision is to live in a community where no one feels lonely or isolated. We bring vulnerable people together to enhance their health and wellbeing through: ? A specialist Dementia Day Care Service. We offer 70 weekly places at our Day Care, which improves quality of life for people living with dementia through multi-sensory therapy, accessible fitness classes, and activities to promote physical and cognitive function like arts and history classes. ? A Wellbeing Programme for unpaid carers, which supports 500 people annually who are caring for someone with a life-limiting condition such as dementia. Carers receive free wellbeing classes like yoga and expressive art, and practical support like visits from Citizens Advice Bureau. We also offer a Befriending Service and free overnight and day excursions so that carers can receive vital respite. ? An Open Community Programme, offering weekly activities that bring socially isolated people together and help them forge meaningful connections. These programmes are dementia and disability inclusive but are also open to anyone in the community experiencing isolation, and include: lunch programmes, social and wellbeing walks, craft and board game meet-ups, and our Community Music Programme. ? A Community Hub. The Hub houses our community café and our Helping Hands Volunteer Programme, offering rewarding and skill-building volunteer experiences to people of all ages and abilities. The Hub is a busy and much-loved place, offering 60 hours of affordable, bookable classes each week, ranging from Pilates and kids? judo to antenatal classes and music classes for toddlers. In addition to housing our own services, our Hub is home to several smaller charities who rely on us for affordable office space.
