Recipient Org: Description | ACES Woodywnd as the charity is known locally, provides support to the residents of the town of Kilwinning. we support children and young people by visiting schools and raise awareness to issues children and young people may face growing up in impoverished conditions. we deliver sessions in Bullying, internet safety, alcohol awareness and knife crime. we also run youth clubs, school holiday clubs and family nights, currently we have a community shop (Woodwynd's wee shoap ) which is supporting those tackling food poverty. the residents pay £4 per week and get groceries worth around £20 per week to provide for their families and themselves. We have a 50's themed community diner that has a low cost menu to allow families, single people etc to ''heat and eat'' It is cheaper to eat at the diner than buy and cook meals in their homes. |
