Recipient Org: Description | At With Kids, we believe that a child?s early experiences shape the adults they become. When children are exposed to trauma, instability or neglect?especially in their formative years?the effects can be long-lasting, often emerging later in life as poor mental health, low self-worth, or disrupted relationships. Yet young children often lack the language or emotional understanding to explain what they?re feeling. Their distress may instead be expressed through challenging behaviour, withdrawal, or anxiety. That?s where With Kids comes in. We provide specialist Play Therapy, a child-led, evidence-based approach for children under 12 who have experienced adversity, trauma or disruption. Play is a child?s natural language, through it, they communicate what words cannot. Our qualified Play Therapists work one-to-one with children, creating a safe, consistent space where they can explore difficult emotions, build resilience, and begin to heal. This early intervention lays the foundations for long-term wellbeing and helps prevent more serious difficulties in adolescence and adulthood. Our work does not stop with the child. We take a holistic approach, supporting and working with the wider family through one-to-one advice, therapeutic parenting guidance, and tailored group programmes that improve mental health and strengthen relationships at home. We also offer perinatal mental health support for parents at the very start of their journey. Recognising the importance of context, we provide consultation and training for school staff, ensuring children are supported within their daily environments. With Kids is deeply rooted in the communities we serve. We work in partnership with families, schools and local services to provide accessible, non-stigmatising support, primarily in areas of high deprivation. Our centre in Glasgow?s East End offers a calm, welcoming base for families who may not feel safe or supported within more formal systems. We are also committed to growing the children?s mental health workforce. In partnership with Queen Margaret University, we deliver Scotland?s only MSc in Play Therapy, ensuring this vital intervention is available to more children, in more communities. At its heart, With Kids exists to nurture emotional resilience, strengthen family bonds, and ensure all children?regardless of background?have the opportunity to thrive. We know that early intervention works. Our Key Services Include: ? Play Therapy: This non-directive, creative approach allows children to process complex emotions, strengthen resilience, and develop healthy relationships. ? Parent and Carer Support: One-to-one guidance, group support, school holiday activities and parenting programmes to reduce isolation, improve mental well-being, and build secure attachments between children and their caregivers. ? Family Work and Counselling: Including joint parent-child counselling sessions, for parents/carers and survivors of trauma. ? Perinatal Mental Health Support: Providing early intervention to support new parents and promote strong early attachment between parent and infant. ? Community-Based Activities: Including school holiday programmes, peer support groups, and wellbeing-focused events to promote inclusion and strengthen family life and relationships. ?
