Recipient Org: Description The Village Kitchen CIC is a social enterprise dedicated to assisting seniors over the age of 65 in Clackmannanshire and the broader Forth Valley area. Our mission is to alleviate social isolation, improve both physical and mental health and well-being, promote nutritional awareness, and guarantee equitable access to community services through diverse activities and offerings. Our key services encompass meal delivery, lunch clubs, and mini-bus excursions. As part of the Forthvalley Home from Hospital Partnership, we work alongside Forthvalley Hospital, FoodTrain, RVS, Strathcarron Hospice, and Dial-a-Journey to facilitate quicker hospital discharges for patients and support their recovery at home. Our main beneficiaries typically range in age from 75 to 100, with 75% being female and 85% living alone, often facing marginalization and isolation from their communities. We deliver an average of 90 two-course meals each week and accommodate between 45 and 55 senior guests at our weekly lunch club at the Hive Community Centre. With the help of our volunteer drivers and Dial-a-Journey, we ensure that about 70% of our guests can access the lunch club by providing transportation to and from the venue. Although our services primarily target seniors over 65, we also offer assistance to community members in need, including those with hidden disabilities, mobility challenges, injuries, or those experiencing bereavement who require extra support with meals at home. Beyond our essential services, we plan regular supported outings for beneficiaries who might otherwise be unable to participate. These excursions offer chances for community engagement, recreational enjoyment, and social interaction. Our team makes certain that these outings are customized to meet the specific needs of our seniors, providing necessary support throughout the events. Through these activities, we strive to enhance the quality of life for seniors, foster social connections, and create enriching experiences that transcend their daily routines.
