Recipient Org: Description | eXp began in 2009 and was established as a SCIO in 2016. It is a Christian youth work organisation working interdenominationally in Cowal, which includes Dunoon and nearby villages. We run a community youth club in Dunoon on a weekly basis during term time. We run residential events for community young people in the summer, and at weekends in termtime. We work in partnership with Dunoon Grammar School, running clubs in the school and providing teacher and student support. Our M.A.D. (make a difference) club in the school allows young people to plan and implement school and community projects which help the local Elderly Befrienders, Food Bank, and other community needs. For those interested in making music together, learning to play an instrument and in digital communication skills we also run weekend opportunities and an annual community showcase event called, Ceilidh, Cake and Concert. These activities provide a wide range of hands-on opportunities giving young people a voice and broadening young people?s horizons and improving their confidence, critical thinking, mental health, and practical and leadership skills. We welcome all young people, of any faith or none at all. We engage with many young people who are especially vulnerable because of family poverty, parental unemployment, family disruption, mental health issues or social isolation, seeking to provide a safe and welcoming place for them. |
