| Recipient Org: Description | An Talla Solais is a unique visual arts charity in Ullapool, in the North West Highlands of Scotland. We have a gallery, ceramics facilities and artists' studios. Our vision is to be a place where everyone can discover and expand their creative potential. We actively engage with our local community as well as artists across Scotland, and Internationally. We achieve this by: - Mounting three high quality exhibitions per year giving local people and visitors access to contemporary art which they otherwise would not have access to - Providing a community-focused range of workshops and participatory arts events which improve cultural engagement whilst tackling isolation and loneliness - Fostering strong links to the three local schools and community groups and providing access to high-quality art exhibitions which young people in our rural location would not otherwise have - Hosting networking/development sessions for local artists and creative practitioners nurturing a supportive and engaged cultural community - Providing artists? studios which enable artists to professionalise their work and develop their practice. This programme has been developed in direct response to the community needs that were identified in an exhaustive consultation that we recently undertook. |
