Recipient Org: Description Alford Valley Community Railway (AVCR) is a Community Benefit Society who are committed to re-instating the Alford Valley narrow gauge railway that fell in a state of disrepair in 2017. When the Railway is back up and running it will be a thriving and popular visitor attraction for Alford. This will be achieved over 4 phases - phases 1/2: refurbishment of the station building, the refurbishment of the engine shed and re-instating the turntable, phase 3: Haughton Park terminus, phase 4: lifting the relaying the 3/4 mile railway track. The Station will be an energy efficient building and community space that will be available to the community for events/meetings etc. The Station will also be a museum retelling the story of the importance of the original railway's role in transporting Aberdeen Angus Beef cattle and Aberdeenshire granite worldwide. Once complete the Railway will transport visitors along its 3/4mile track to Haughton Country Park and Caravan Site and back. AVCR is a Railway Owned by the Community for the Community.
