Recipient Org: Charity Number SC034873
Recipient Org: Description Wild Things is a Scottish Charity which seeks to overcome educational, social or economic disadvantages through contact with the natural world. We have developed a unique range of outdoor learning courses which enable participants to appreciate, care for and understand Scotland?s spectacular natural environment, and in doing so, gain valuable new skills and invaluable life experience. Our stated objectives are: - To promote the use of traditional skills and knowledge to preserve our cultural and natural heritage. - To promote, maintain and advance the education and personal development of children, young people and adults by encouraging an appreciation of their natural environment and cultural heritage. - To work alone or in partnership with other groups and organisations to advance a general understanding of nature conservation, restoration and environmental sustainability. At Wild Things, we know that interaction with the natural world benefits different age groups and demographics in different ways and we deliver three core strands of work that engage people with nature. Community Environmental Education Programmes: Our flagship programme, Silver Saplings, engages whole communities with health and wellbeing programmes in nature. We work with young and old alike, across North Scotland including vulnerable groups. Accredited Outdoor Leadership Training: Since 2015 Wild Things has developed a range of accredited Training Courses. The courses aim to provide educators with the necessary skills and experience to lead activity programmes. Conservation and Habitat Restoration: We work with community volunteers to carry out practical work on sensitive and nationally important habitats. For more information about Wild Thing?s work and how it has been recognised at a national level through National Lottery?s ?Heritage Heroes? and the Queen?s Award for Voluntary Service please visit www.wild-things.org.uk
