Recipient Org: Description | Children 1st is Scotland?s national children?s charity. We help Scotland?s families to put children first, with practical advice and support in difficult times. And when the worst happens, we support survivors of abuse, neglect, and other traumatic events in childhood, to recover. Our ambition is to reach every child who needs us, wherever they are in Scotland. Our vision is that children in Scotland will be safer, will grow up in strong, resilient families and will have access to early help and support when they need it. They will have their rights protected in all areas of their lives. Our activities focus on: 1. Preventing abuse, neglect and trauma by offering support, information and advice to families and communities to strengthen relationships and build resilience. 2. Ensuring children?s rights are protected in legislation, policy and practice through direct participation and engagement. 3. Developing accessible trauma recovery and resilience hubs, ensuring support is child centred, rights based, and recovery focussed. 4. Modernising and maximising our resources and partnerships in order to be more agile, responsive and resilient, to enable us to reach more children and families. We currently deliver 17 local services and 6 national services across Scotland. Examples of services we deliver include: ? Trauma prevention and recovery for children, adults and families ? Family wellbeing services ? Children 1st Parentline - our national helpline for anyone caring for or concerned about a child ? Rights and advocacy for children ? Family Group Decision Making ? Support for families affected by substance misuse ? Kinship care support ? Money and debt advice ? Child wellbeing and protection in sport ? Support for children in the Children?s Hearing system through the Safeguarders panel ? Emotional wellbeing and raising attainment in schools |
