| Recipient Org: Description | Global Family is a non-profit organisation founded to protect children and preserve families in vulnerable situations. We are passionate about helping and serving those who are at-risk of abuse and exploitation, substance abuse, alcoholism, and homelessness, particularly youth and women. Our vision is to help as many children as possible who are victims of poverty, exploitation, and abuse by modeling and sharing principled methods that represent the best possible outcome. We have recently been established in Falkirk, Scotland, and provide education to students and professionals about human trafficking and community development. We run, in Falkirk, a Girls clubs that takes place after school to help provide a safe space for girls to learn and build healthy relationships. Club facilitators use a curriculum called "Empower" which takes girls through a variety of lessons and activities around being a good friend and finding good friendships, setting goals, dreaming for the future, overcoming obstacles and challenges, and healthy dating and relationships. At our centre, we have a community room that is free to use for community groups and organisations to hold training, meetings, free counselling etc. We are also currently in discussions with the local council with the aim of using our experience in providing support for Falkirk Council in the foster care system. |
