Recipient Org: Description | Corstorphine AAC is an athletics club based in the West of Edinburgh, but with a membership from throughout the city. We provide coaching sessions for all groups from 8 years old to senior. Our Development and Junior squads learn the fundementals of run, jump and throw events and are introduced to competetive events like the Forth Valley League and Scottish Athletics Superteams competition. Intermediate squad bridges the gap into specialised sprint, endurance running, jumps and throws squads. Since May 2022 we have worked in conjunction with City of Edinburgh Council Active Schools programme to provide an introduction to athletics for Primary School kids within the Royal High School catchment area and from November 2022 we have added frame running sessions to the Active Schools programme and recently integrated a session into our Tuesday track sessions at Saughton. All our coaches are volunteers who have UK Athletics Level 1 or Level 2 coaching licenses. Since Covid, when we saw the major benefit of enforced smaller group sizes, we have doubled the number of coaches and parent helpers in order to continue more concentrated coaching of smaller groups within the Junior sections. With the addition of frame running taking up some of our coaching resource and the strong desire to keep group sizes down, we require to further increase the number of coaches |
