| Recipient Org: Description | Dads Rock aims to improve outcomes for children in Scotland and ensure the best start in life by providing support to Dads and families. This includes working in deprived areas to help families in most need of support, with a focus on supporting Dads who often feel excluded from current parenting services. We organise activities for parents (with a focus on Dads) to help them to look after and engage with their children in a fun and positive way. We help them understand and develop the emotional capacity for positive relationships both within their family and with the professionals who are there to help them. Research shows that children have better outcomes in life when both parents are actively involved in their upbringing from the moment they are born. We work to help Dads, children and families in most need of support through: weekly playgroups outdoor play sessions one to one mentoring and support for vulnerable young dads delivering antenatal and other parenting workshops to Dads and Mums, both online and in person in Edinburgh & Glasgow peer support for Dads during the Perinatal stage WhatsApp groups for Dads affordable and free music tuition for young people and families By doing this work we also hope to raise awareness and fight gender stereotypes to support a shift in society toward accepting the vital role Dads play. It has been proven that this is beneficial to children, as it helps with their attainment at school improving chances in later life. |
