| Recipient Org: Description | PURPOSE OF OUR ORGANISATION: Change Mental Health is a national mental health charity delivering non-clinical, person-centred support to people affected by mental illness across Scotland. Our vision is a future where no one needs to face mental illness alone.??? Our charitable objectives:? - Providing transformational services, ensuring everyone has access to the support they need, when they need it, in a way which works best for them?? - Seeking to change society by changing attitudes, fighting stigma, and influencing government to ensure a better quality of life for those affected by mental illness? MAIN ACTIVITIES/SERVICES WE PROVIDE: The people we support play an active role in designing their own route to better mental health. Working one-to-one with a member of staff, each service user co-creates a personal development plan; this process takes a strengths-based approach to build on positive aspects of each service user?s life, such as encouraging engagement with local activities/community groups. As well as delivering person-centred, holistic activities to improve mental wellbeing, we offer practical advice and guidance on issues including benefits, housing, and employment.?Our eight resource centres (inc. the Stafford Centre) offer bespoke emotional support, confidence building, self-management support, crisis intervention, vocational/skills training, employability building and benefits assistance. Several of our resource centres boast cafés and run activity groups such as art, music, yoga, walking, Tai Chi, radio, photography and woodwork. The aim of these is to teach people new skills, encourage expression, provide companionship, and improve confidence.? |
