Recipient Org: Description | Dufftown 2000 Ltd is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, established in 1995 to promote Dufftown as a premier visitor destination in Moray. Our primary focus is fostering economic growth and community enrichment through visitor-related activities. The main activities and services are focussed upon the Whisky Heritage Centre (WHC) - to organise year-round events to serve the local community, residents and visitors alike, as well as generate new footfall into the town and the positive economic ripple effect to the surrounding local independent business community. To deliver this the current WHC (located at 12 Conval Street) is to be transformed by expanding its capacity (inclusive of 10 Conval Street) & its scope of activities and immersive experiences. 1. Whisky Heritage Centre (WHC) : * Currently located at 12 Conval Street, the museum showcases Dufftown?s rich whisky and cultural heritage. It displays rare exhibits gifted by local distilleries, HM Customs & community members. * The centre serves as a focal point during major whisky festivals, hosting tastings, and other experiences as well as being a central hub. * The expanded and transformed heritage centre will be used to deliver enhanced, well-designed interpretive exhibits exploring the unique stories of the area & its people which makes the story of Dufftown come to life. Honouring and safeguarding local history and its legacy, making it accessible to all. * The WHC will provide a Hub in Dufftown embracing all the attributes of a Visitor Centre, which will be fully accessible for all visitors. This will generate a vibrant hub with daily activity, conversations along with generating footfall for a variety of reasons and attracting several demographics. 2. Community Engagement: Dufftown 2000 does, and will manage a team of volunteers, primarily the aim is for this contingent to retired distillery workers, who contribute expertise and hospitality to enhance visitor experiences as well as provide meaningful activity and connection for those within the community. 3. Visitor Hub: We act as an information point, providing guidance to visitors & residents alike, and promoting local attractions, businesses, and historical landmarks. Overall our purpose is to celebrate Dufftown?s story as the "Whisky Capital of the World" while driving increased footfall to the town. The new centre will feature interactive exhibits, events, and enhanced accessibility, offering a modern and sustainable visitor experience. This revitalisation aligns with our goal to strengthen Dufftown?s identity as a world-class destination, fostering economic and cultural benefits for the community. |
