Recipient Org: Description Driven by love, Action for Children's (AfC's) mission is to ensure every child and young person in the UK has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive. We give children and young people the protection and practical help they urgently need. And we campaign for lasting change. AfC is a leading charity for disadvantaged children, young people and families. OUR AIM AND PURPOSE: AIM: Every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood and the foundations they need to thrive. PURPOSE: To protect and support children/young people and their families by providing practical and emotional care and support, and ensuring their voices are heard MAIN ACTIVITIES: Through our diverse range of services, we aim to break intergenerational cycles-of-disadvantage by building capacity and resilience. This includes: ? Family Support ? Emotional Wellbeing/Mental Health Support ? Residential Care ? Youth Services e.g. substance use , employability, housing support, care leaver support ? Disability Services ? Fostering Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is an evidence-based programme. AfC is the only third sector licence holder in Scotland . FFT draws on intensive therapeutic approaches to support young people at risk of out of home placements. These young people are often experiencing significant emotional and behavioural difficulties, and we support them and their family through this, to prevent relationship breakdowns and homelessness. Working with the whole family, FFT supports young people and families to learn new skills to address the challenges they face. By adopting a whole-family approach, FFT works to ensure positive changes are maintained and that the young people and families make real progress whilst remaining together. The duration and frequency of sessions are decided alongside families based on their availability and the complexity of difficulties they are experiencing. We work with young people and families to understand their needs. We do this by being open and transparent with families around the FFT model, seeking feedback and collaboration with families. This ensures their therapist is working with them in a way that suits their needs, and they find respectful and helpful.
