Recipient Org: Description EWfC is a national Black women-led, anti-racist grassroots charity established in 2015. Based in Glasgow, we empower women and girls from ethnic minority backgrounds especially refugees, asylum seekers, lone parents, older women, migrant women, and those with no recourse to public funds who experience severe poverty, discrimination, trauma, exclusion, and health inequality. Our purpose is to reduce poverty, promote equity, and create opportunities for women and girls to thrive, be financially resilient, and live free from discrimination. Our work directly supports women's development, increases self-sufficiency, and strengthens social and economic equality across communities. We deliver holistic, community-led, culturally responsive and trauma-informed support that meets urgent needs while building long-term pathways to wellbeing, confidence, leadership, and independence. EWfC Core Work 1. Poverty Relief & Financial Resilience Culturally tailored food support, clothing swaps, digital access, budgeting, and energy-saving workshops. Financial inclusion guidance to help families maximise income and reduce household costs. 2. Emotional Support & Safety One-to-one and peer support for isolated women, lone mothers, and those experiencing domestic abuse. Integration support for women and families navigating trauma, displacement, and hostile environments. 3. Health, Wellbeing & Trauma Recovery Inspired Women our flagship programme now in its 5th phase uses Judith Herman's trauma recovery model to guide women from safety to empowerment, independence, resilience, and leadership. Activities include creative arts, gardening, yoga, mindfulness, dance, peer support, and climate awareness sessions that build resilience and strong community bonds. 4. Employability, Skills & Social Enterprise Accredited training, volunteering pathways, digital and financial literacy, and social enterprise awareness. Employability programmes such as Desire to Inspire and Bridging the Gap have supported over 900 women into skills development, education, enterprise, and work experience. 5. Community Climate Action Practical workshops on sewing, upcycling, cycling, textile and food waste reduction. Energy-saving sessions that enhance climate literacy, reduce carbon footprints, and lower household bills. 6. Arts, Heritage & Advocacy Co-designed creative projects (e.g., 'Thistles & Dandelions: Sustainable Co-Production' that celebrate heritage, promote inclusion, and amplify ethnic minority women's voices. Advocacy to challenge systemic inequality and influence public policy. Proven Success & Lasting Change EWfC has a strong track record of a lasting impact ' Reaching Milestones' community research project elevated minority ethnic women's experiences of health and social care. Its recommendations led to EWfC reports 'Our Health Our Voice' (2024/25) and 'From Lived Experience to Policy Change' 2025 which have informed major mainstream policies, including NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Glasgow HSCP and Glasgow Equalities Outcomes, strategies and Anti-Discrimination Plan (2026/2029). This work is actively reducing health inequalities and driving more inclusive public services. Our 5 phases Inspired Women programmes demonstrates sustained transformation, it has supported hundreds of women to move from trauma and isolation into confidence, resilience, leadership, employment, and social enterprise. Many former participants now volunteer or lead activities, demonstrating the long-term impact of our approach. EWfC integrated, community-led model, improves women's lives today and builds lasting change and fairer futures for generations of ethnic minority women and girls across Scotland. www.ewfc.org.uk/ourprojects https://online.fliphtml5.com/zitsx/qkmw/index.html#p=3
