Recipient Org: Description Glasgow Girls Club is a women led, women only organisation that supports girls and young women aged 13 to 25 who face poverty, discrimination, trauma, isolation and disadvantage. Established in 2014, we were created to give girls in Glasgow a safe, consistent and empowering space where they can connect with positive female role models, build confidence, explore their strengths and access the support they need to move towards more stable and hopeful futures, for themselves and the next generation of girls. Our purpose is to create safe environments where girls can belong, grow and lead. We work with young women who are often excluded or overlooked by mainstream services, including those experiencing gender-based violence, caring responsibilities, poor mental health, bereavement, bullying, school disengagement and insecure housing. Our single sex, trauma informed approach is central to our identity and essential for the girls we support. Many tell us this is the only place where they feel relaxed, understood and able to take part without fear or judgement. We deliver a wraparound programme that includes weekly women only workshops, one to one support, creative and therapeutic sessions, life skills development, peer support, outreach and practical barrier removal. Weekly workshops provide a familiar and safe routine for girls to learn, connect and build confidence. Sessions include creative arts, digital skills, wellbeing activities cooking, budgeting, and themed discussions on relationships and boundaries. One to one support is delivered through a big sister style approach that focuses on trust, emotional regulation, understanding unhealthy dynamics and navigating difficult situations at home or in relationships. Creative work is a key part of our model. Programmes such as GALA and Music as Medicine use art, music, digital storytelling and creative activism to help girls explore identity, express feelings and develop new skills in a safe and empowering way. Cascading leadership strengthens this work, with older members and alumni acting as peer mentors, co-facilitators and role models for younger girls. This creates a strong sense of community, continuity and connection with a group of strong, like-minded, empowering women. We work closely with a wide range of partners across North Glasgow and beyond, including Police Scotland, the Violence Against Women Partnership, schools, housing teams, Scottish Prison Service, community organisations and other female focused services. These partnerships help us identify girls early, prevent crises from escalating and build joined up pathways into education, training, volunteering and safer living situations. Working collaboratively also ensures that girls are supported across all areas of their lives, rather than in isolation. Glasgow Girls Club exists to help young women heal from difficult experiences, rise out of isolation and poverty, and thrive through creativity, connection and opportunity. Our work is rooted in the realities of girls' lives, shaped by their voices and delivered by a committed women only team. We aim to build stronger, safer and more connected communities by empowering the girls and young women who will shape them.
