“EarlyBIRDS” (Early, Brief Interventions to Reduce Daily Stress): Developing and testing community-based single-session psychological interventions for 16-19-year-olds in challenging circumstances (3496)

£582,426

Our goal is to develop a suite of single-session interventions (SSIs) that can be offered to highly stressed young people by trusted adults alongside other pastoral/developmental roles (e.g., in youth clubs, churches and hostels) and thereby expand the footprint of evidence-based psychological help deep into the community. This is important because specialist mental health services are accessed by only 1 in 5 young people with mental health needs. SSIs supported by trained community members could provide rapid help and boost engagement over and above alternative approaches, such as signposting to self-care apps and websites.
