Play in a day (360G-BNG-TFC-2026-02466)

£2,500

The project will come in 2 parts. The first 2 weeks will include the drama leaders/ Actors rehearsing a one act play and designing the ' Play in a day' workshop format and organise venues, travel schedules, van hire etc.The team will drive to Kilmuir in Skye on a Friday evening to prep for the Saturday 'Play in a day' workshops and develop a play. The project aims to develop a play in a day with Gaelic speakers in 4 different communities. The 2 drama leaders would run a workshop from 11am - 4.30pm and help the participants write a short play based on their ideas, opinions and the community they live in. In the evening the participants will perform their play to an audience of Parents, friends and community members. This would be followed by a one act play by the drama leaders. Then a Q&A session for a short while before finishing with a ceilidh from young local performers. We would hopefully encourage members of Kilmuir drama group to come along and take part and have different age groups intermingling. The number of participants would determine if we would be creating one or two stories on the day. One drama leader would develop the Young group and the 2nd leader would direct the 2nd group or the groups could be of mixed ages. The aim of the project is to bring members of each community together for a fun creativle day developing their drama and Gaelic skills. Present an evening of entertainment created in the community to a local audience. Each venue would probably have a raffle for a bit more fun and gather a few pounds for the venues coffers.
