Recipient Org: Description | River Church is comprised of four congregations in Maidenhead (Berkshire), Marlow (Buckinghamshire), Slough (Berkshire) and Englefield Green (Surrey) and is part of the Pioneer Network of churches - a nationwide group committed to dynamic and effective Christianity. The Church supports groups seeking to express Christian unity - bringing together Christians from different Churches, and aims to cater for all ages, providing spiritual well-being and relieving hardship. Activities are also provided for all ages such as youth clubs, community days and breakfast clubs. Locally, the church runs 'Impact', a youth club for the Forest Estate in West Englefield Green. In 2013 River Church led a multi-agency group to negotiate use of a local British Legion building for use as a community hub for the community on the Forest Estate. The Council own the land on which the building is situated. Currently the Hub pays ground rent to the British Legion who hold the lease. The lease will be changing to River Church and future lease payments will be made by River Church directly to Reigate and Bandstead Council. River Church hopes that this process will be complete soon. River Church has a letter of intent from the Council that the lease will be granted to them for a period of 10 years. The Hub Manager is supported by a Hub Management Committee of 5 people and many volunteers. |
