Recipient Org: Description Old Woking and District Community Association was a registered charity established in 1951 with the object "to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Old Woking and district" and "to maintain and manage a Community Centre". In January 2016 a new CIO, Old Woking and District Community Centre, took on board all of the previous commitments of Old Woking and District Community Association and final wind down of the charitable trust is hoped to be / has been achieved within the next year. ???????????_x000D_ The objects of the CIO are_x000D_ a) The provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the Hoe Valley ward of Woking Borough Council. _x000D_ b) To maintain and manage Old Woking and District Community Centre for the benefit of residents of the area of benefit._x000D_ c) To promote community development and the advancement of the voluntary sector within the area of benefit for the benefit of its residents._x000D_ The Centre has 7 rooms for hire. There is a main hall with a large stage, 2 further rooms with sprung floor and 5 function rooms. The spaces are regularly hired out to dance schools, youth groups, scouts and a tai chi club. The Centre aspires to be a central facility for the use of the local community. Two part-time staff are involved in the running of the Centre, which is managed by a management committee of 9 supported by 11 volunteers.
