Recipient Org: Description Aerobility is a charitable company limited by guarantee incorporated in September 2012 and registered as a charity in November 2012. The charity’s objects are to promote and provide education, recreation and leisure time activities for disabled persons in particular by providing opportunities in aviation with the object of improving the conditions of life. The largest of Aerobility’s services is accessible flight, which they made possible for almost 900 people last year. Aerobility owns and manages a fleet of adapted light aircraft and bespoke hoisting equipment, which paired with instruction by qualified instructors with experience of the needs of disabled aviators, enables them to safely support people with a wide spectrum of disabilities including those with learning difficulties. Aerobility also provide a wide range of fully accessible aviation based education programmes and recreation activities that are tailored to suit every ability. These services can be ground based so are ideal for individuals who may not initially be confident to fly, but still possess a passion for aircraft and the broader aspects of aviation, such as navigation and meteorology. Each of the education programmes are designed with the ultimate objective of improving the conditions of life. Currently the organisation runs education programmes for young disabled people, adults with learning disabilities and those disabled in military service. Based in Blackbushe airport (Camberley), Aerobility has operating bases at a number of airfields in the UK such as Tatenhill in the Midlands, and Prestwick in Scotland. Close to 40% of service users are living in Surrey, this percentage includes participants from both accessible flights and education programmes. Aerobility employs 5 full-time and 5 part-time members of staff, who are supported by 9 members of the management committee and 98 volunteers.
