Recipient Org: Description | The aims of the Camberley Alzheimer Café are to: • Provide a safe, warm, welcoming place where people concerned about the world of dementia can meet in safety to explore issues of dementia and to socialise. • Provide a post-diagnostic service welcoming those with a diagnosis of dementia. • Have an educational component to our work, involving experts in the various fields associated with dementia, and to deliver an established programme, thus enabling group and individual discussion. • Ensure that the overall programme accords with that of Alzheimer Cafes worldwide. This means guests from other towns and countries can join in and know what to expect. Education of the volunteer team is on-going. Volunteers contribute to various community groups so as to spread the word and also bring up-to-date information back to this group. Camberley Alzheimer Café is a newly registered CIO, with a Management Committee of 3 people and 9 volunteers. The café does not have waged or salaried employees. The café was established in September 2014, and registered as a CIO in December 2015. |
