| Recipient Org: Description | River Church is comprised of four congregations in Maidenhead (Berkshire), Marlow (Buckinghamshire), Slough (Berkshire) and Englefield Green (Surrey) and is part of the Pioneer Network of churches. The Church is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, and supports groups seeking to express Christian unity. River Church aims to provide spiritual well-being and relieve hardship. Activities are also provided for all ages such as youth and breakfast clubs, cooking, holiday movie mornings, and special community events. Locally, the church runs ‘Impact’, a youth club for the Forest Estate in West Englefield Green. In 2013 River Church led a multi-agency group to negotiate use of a local British Legion building for use as a community hub for the community on the Forest Estate. The Council owns the land on which the building is situated. The Hub previously paid ground rent to the British Legion who held the lease. The British Legion has now surrendered the lease to the Council and a new lease for River Church is being prepared. The chief executive of Runnymede Borough Council has written a letter of intent to River Church for a 10 year lease, although further discussions have led to the proposal of a much longer lease to be put in place. The Hub Manager is supported by a Hub Management Committee of 5 people and many volunteers. |
